Wiener Resigns as APBA Executive Director
Earlier today Dan Wiener resigned as APBA’s Executive Director. Dan will be greatly missed and we wish him well in his future endeavors. During the search for an Interim Executive Director, APBA President Mark Wheeler and APBA Vice President Dutch Squires will jointly assume the duties of Executive Director. Those wishing to be considered for the position of Interim Executive Director should contact President Wheeler at president@apba.org.

West Milford Township Council approves June boat races

The governing body has signed off on the return of powerboat races to Brown’s Point Park this June.
On Wednesday, West Milford’s town council approved the issuance of a permit for an American Powerboat Association (APBA) racing event at Greenwood Lake this spring. Subject to the approvals of the police, clerk, and administration as well as the state parks bureau, the event is a go for June 7 and 8, according to Mayor Bettina Bieri. The date has long since been added to the APBA calendar.
APBA Remembers Stan Fitts
Stan Fitts, 74, of Framingham, died, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Metrowest Medical Center, Natick after a short illness. Born in Brookline, he was the son of the late Harvey A. and Frances (Ockerman) Fitts.
Stan served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of University of New Hampshire and was the retired President of Clark-Wilcox Co. in Boston and the President of CW Equipment Co. in Framingham. He was a member of the Plymouth Church as well as the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club in Sunapee, NH.

The Race Management Committee manages the APBA General Racing Rules (not category rules) and some of the General Safety Rules. All APBA Board of Directors, Category chairs, APBA Special Event Chair, APBA Chief Inspector, APBA Chief Referee, and the APBA Chief Scorer are members of this committee.
