GENEVA — Imagine you have never played golf but go to a professional
tournament, think “this is the sport for me,” buy a set of expensive clubs
and try to make it on the PGA Tour.
Pretty far-fetched, right? Well, that isn’t exactly Don Burshnick’s story,
but it’s not that far off.

GENEVA — Nearly 100 powerboats with roaring engines will be speeding across Seneca Lake this weekend for the annual HydroBowl in front of a large crowd of spectators at the Geneva Lakefront Park.
This is the second year that Geneva will be hosting the HydroBowl and event director Melia Koerner said racers were excited to return to Seneca Lake this year.
“Racers refer to it as fast water, meaning they get good speeds on the water,” she said.
On Friday morning, Sept. 21, the APBA held its Annual Meeting in Eastpointe, Mich., to announce the winners of the 2012 elections. This year we received 1719 votes divided between six candidates and 29 write-ins. Below are the Annual Meeting minutes.

Today, the sport continues under the direction of the Union Internationale Motonautique. From its seat in Monaco, the governing body intends to play a significant role in racing’s future.
