With a big wave to the crowd and his fists in the air, Nawaf Al Thani completes two successful runs in the Spirit of Qatar J Hydro. Thani age 11, is the son of His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Jabor Al-Thani who worked with H1 Unlimited to bring the boats to Qatar in 2009. Sheikh Hassan drives his country\'s Spirit of Qatar on the offshore circuit. Nawaf has grown up watching his dad compete races around the world.

Rough start to weekend for Myers
The opening day of the Oryx Cup World Championships has drawn to a close. Spectators were treated to some great racing action in the preliminary heats. J.W. Myers and the Peters & May team continues to struggle with salt water ingestion. Myers finishes the day with only 30 points which he scored during Thursday\'s Qualifying Session. He\'s currently in tenth place in points for the weekend heading into tomorrow. Only six boats will make Oryx Cup Final\'s front row.

J.W. Myers and the Peters & May hydroplane returns to action this weekend for the Oryx Cup World Championships in Doha, Qatar. For the third consecutive year, the Air Guard H1 Unlimited Series travels to the Middle East for the UIM World Championships on Doha Bay. After making his first final appearance in 2011, Myers and the Unlimited Racing Group hopes to build on the momentum they gained in San Diego.

Beloved throttleman Joey Gratton of Page Motorsports has died of injuries he suffered Friday in a crash at the Key West World Championships. It was the second fatal crash of the event involving a Skater, following Wednesday's horrific crash that killed the team of Big Thunder Marine: owner/throttleman Robert M. Morgan of Sunrise Beach, MO, and driver Jeffrey Tillman of Kaiser, MO.
