Steve David did not win his third-straight Indiana Governor's Cup, but considering that the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison is still in one piece and headed to Detroit intact, finishing second turned out to be a pretty good weekend.
One year after a collision in the final heat all but ruined the hometown boat's chances at a fourth-straight national championship, the shark will leave Madison second in the points chase and ready for more.
David and the Oberto came oh-so-close to pulling out a rare race weekend sweep. On Friday, they lost the top qualifying position to Dave Villwock and the U-1 Spirit of Qatar by three-tenths of a mph and over the weekend won all three preliminary heats.
