The 64th Newberg Memorial Weekend Boat Races is the granddaddy of western outboard races. There is recorded history of boat racing on the Willamette River at Newberg, Or., as far back as 1902, when row boats competed for a trophy. The current incarnation began as a marathon to Albany and back 1948 as the Newberg Boat Club (NBC) helped Yamhill County show off the new boat ramp at Roger’s Landing. The current circle race configuration started in 1952 under APBA sanction.

Bay City is one of the roughest courses on the Formula 1 PROP tour. This weekend Jessica Beegle will compete in her first tunnel boat race at the 25th annual Bay City River Roar. Although this will be Jessica's first OPC event as a driver, she is no stranger to powerboat racing.

Powerboat racing has lost a strong advocate, a generous spirit and a fierce competitor. The unexpected death of Tamara (Tammy) Dawe, 40, on June 12 is a terrible loss to her family, friends and countless students who knew her as a caring and dedicated Language Arts teacher, yearbook advisor and friend.
For the first time in its 49 year existence, history was made at the 24 Hours of Rouen race in France with an all-female team taking part in the race.
An international team consisting of Tammy Wolf, Marie-line Hericher, Bimba Sjoholm and Mette Bjerknaes took to the harsh waters of Rouen and finished fourth in their class and ninth overall.
