Gold Cup Free Friday is back

The DYC Detroit APBA Gold Cup, presented by Jarvis Property Restoration, proudly announces the return of Free Friday courtesy of Made In Detroit and American Badass Beer.  The sponsorship from the two Michigan-based companies restores the 104th annual event to a three-day schedule running July 12-14; the 2013 races had previously been slated to be condensed into two days due to budget constraints.

After a long, hot and competitive racing season, the American Power Boat Association is pleased to announce the names of 18 recipients who will be honored on January 26th in Dallas, Texas at the 39th Annual Hall of Champions Banquet.

Individuals from several categories this year, including returning 16-time honoree Ed Hearn (Stock Outboard) and for the second consecutive year father and son Terry and Robert Rinker (OPC), will be inducted.  Other Hall of Champion Inductees include:

Speed, money, politics, powerful people and engines—from its beginning at the turn of the century, powerboat racing has careened on a rollercoaster ride of international prominence. Today, the sport continues under the direction of the Union Internationale Motonautique. From its seat in Monaco, the governing body intends to play a significant role in racing’s future.
