American Power Boat Association joins with DRG Motorsports #86

DRG Motorsports and the American Power Boat Association announced a multi-race Nationwide Series associate sponsorship for the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. Formed in 1903, the APBA is the oldest governing body in motorsports.  Headquartered in Eastpointe Mich., the APBA has over 3,500 active members and sanctions over 150 power boat races annually.  The APBA sanctions all types of power boat racing from Unlimited Hydroplanes to Junior Class Outboard racing which children can begin at nine-years of age.  “The APBA looks forward to the opportunity to introduce NASCAR fans to the thrills and excitement of power boat racing,” said Mark Wheeler, President of the American Power Boat Association. “NASCAR race fans would be surprised to know that many of the men and woman that work in professional auto racing also have, or are still involved in APBA boat racing,” said DRG owner Scott Deware, a former Formula One Powerboat driver and APBA National Champion.  The APBA race schedule will include events at the Richmond International Raceway on April 25, May 24th Charlotte Motor Speedway, and June 27th Kentucky Speedway race events.  For more information about the American Power Boat Association, please visit www.apba.org
