OROVILLE -- Parked in front of campers and lounging in chairs, spectators and participants in the American Power Boat Association 2013 Oroville Time Trials watched races in leisure Saturday, as competitors duked it out for the best times in each category.
Racers traveled from as far away as Washington and Oregon to compete in the quarter-mile and one-kilometer courses — held at Thermalito Afterbay in Oroville — and broke 11 world records, said Tony Lombardo, a local racer and coordinator.
"They haven't had one of these in probably five years; it's a Guinness Record where you can say that you're the fastest person in your class," Lombardo said.
