Powerboat class victory not a 'dream come true' for Mark Proffitt

As the only local racer competing in the Powerboat Superleague tour event Sunday on Fort Loudoun Lake, Mark Proffitt gave the spectators a reason to cheer with a victory in the SST 200 class of the Formula Two race.

But the Jacksboro resident was not cheering much for himself. The reason was that he lost in the overall race to first-place finisher Brent Dillard and military war veteran Ashton Rinker, both from the older edition engine class, the SST 120.

“I wasn’t in front. This wasn’t a dream come true,” Proffitt said during the awards presentation afterward. “I dreamed about winning, but this wasn’t it.”
