A clarification has been added to the Mercury engine specifications. This clarification states, “During the manufacturing process, Mercury Marine removed aluminum flashing from the exterior lower corner of number two (2) cylinder lower exhaust port. Blocks with this deburring are legal for use in the Junior Classes."
This clarification is necessary because several “recently produced” Mercury 15 engine blocks have been found that were “cleaned up” at the factory. The ports in these engines meet APBA dimensions, but the removal of the flashing would have created a problem in inspection.
This clarification is effective immediately.
