BURLEY, IDAHO • Marlene Faulkner loved coming to Burley.
The matriarch of the Faulkner Racing team, she had been to every Idaho Regatta since it began in 1976.
Before Saturday’s races, family, friends and thousands of boat racing fans stood on the banks of the Snake River to pay tribute, release yellow balloons and wave farewell as Faulkner’s boat, Canary Pride, made a pass on the water.
This is the first Regatta without Marlene Faulkner, who died in February 2011 at the age of 76.
