Inboard Driving School

What Do I Get with the Inboard Driving School?

Classroom Training:
Experienced champion race drivers will teach you racing terms, tips on safety and boat handling. Your instructors are all skilled champion drivers.

Capsule Training: A qualified rescue team will give you the same capsule training that APBA racers take. You’ll learn to use an onboard air system, and to safely and calmly exit a flipped boat. Capsule training is REQUIRED.

Water time: Then it’s your turn to drive 10 laps. Your instructor will guide you via radio, and evaluate you after you come in. You are not racing; you’re learning to drive. On each lap, you’ll gain confidence and skills.

Fun Time: Saturday evening, you will join your fellow students, instructors and other racers to share stories and have fun.  This is likely a testing weekend for APBA racers, so you'll get a chance to meet other racers and hear about other types of racing.

More Water Time:  On Sunday, the school continues, so everyone gets their chance to drive.  You'll receive a certificate and an APBA membership, including a year's subscription to Propeller Magazine.

Is it Safe?  Safety is our first priority.  That's part of the reason the APBA has been around for over 100 years.  You're covered by a trained rescue team and one of the best insurance programs in motorsports.

How much does it cost? The entire weekend including capsule training, instruction, and your chance to soar over the water at close to 110 mph is only $500.  This does not include food or lodging.
