1986 HS Inductees

Stanton T. FittsFitts got his first taste of boat racing when he and his twin brother entered their homemade boat in a Stock Outboard race in 1957.  Since then, Stan has been devoted to the sport on all levels.  He served both as Region 1 Treasurer and Chairman for over 12 years. As APBA Treasurer and longtime member of the Executive Committee, Fitts spearheaded efforts to move APBA forward with its first 5-year plan.  Nationally, he has also served as APBA President, Senior Vice President, Secretary, and on various committees.
Russ Hill, Sr.Hill began racing in 1937, and his flair for mechanics followed not long after.  Known for strict but fair officiating, he became a well-respected inspector and referee in many categories.  Hill also helped promote many racing events, as a past club commodore and race chairman.  His mechanical skills have created engines that won many records and titles for some of the best drivers in Stock, Alky and OPC for three decades.
Bob NordskogFor over 30 years, Bob Nordskog accumulated victories both on and off the race course.  Known as the Iron Man of powerboat racing, he had more than 150 major wins to his credit, in everything from Open Class Offshore to tunnel Outboard. Nordskog served on numerous APBA committees and commissions, was APBA President and advisor to the president. A member of the International Affairs Committee, he was very effective in strengthening ties with UIM. His concern and hard work in the area of drivers’ safety made him Chairman of the Safety Advisory Subcommittee.
