1958HS Inductees

Ted O. JonesOutstanding designer of racing motorboats whose radical Slo-Mo-Shun IV brought the world water speed record back to the U.S. in 1950.  His design revolutionized Unlimited Hydroplane construction, and has been the pattern for nearly every successful Unlimited since that time.  Jones also provided the basic design for the Outboard Hydroplane that brought the world’s Outboard speed record back to the U.S. in 1958 after a lapse of many years.   
George W. Sutton, Jr.For more than a quarter of a century, George W. Sutton, Jr. worked diligently to bring about worldwide recognition of the American Power Boat Association and its records through liaison with the Union of International Motorboating (U.I.M.) in Brussels, Belgium.  He served as president of APBA from 1935 through 1937 and was instrumental in effecting the region system of governing motor boat racing.
